WordCamp Austin 2012 Photos – Mission Control

AudreyWordCamp Austin began with checking in at Mission Control.

Everyone got a program, a name tag and their Austin WordCamp t-shirt.  Then everyone checked out the swag from our sponsors  and hung out in the courtyard before the official welcome at 9 AM.

Of course, some of the volunteers were there really early to put up the signs so everyone could find WordCamp and Mission Control!

WordCamp Austin 2012 Is A Wrap

WordCamp Austin 2012 has been wrapped up (except for the hard-core developers still gathering today!) . What a good day yesterday! Austin weather cooperated and we had a warm blue-sky day and a wonderful facility at AOMA where the open courtyard let us hang out, eat lunch and network in the sunshine.

Even the permanent residents of AOMA got t-shirts to wear for their day!

New: Job Board at WordPress Austin!

Have you checked out the links for all the generous sponsors who make a WordCamp affordable?

Several of them are hiring! I saw job opportunities posted  on WPEngine, RackSpace, MediaTemple, A Small Orange and heard about them at Eye in the Sky Collective.

5/21 Update: Also check Modifly!

Of course, VitaminT  and The Creative Group search for talent on an ongoing basis.

Want to hang out around coffee? Texenza Coffee hires baristas!

You’ll be able to meet sponsors at various times during WordCamp AND at the afterparty, so don’t forget to bring a few business cards if you’re looking for work or talent!

Also, we will be having a WordPress “Job Board” posted in the Happiness Bar / Mission Control Room.

This will just be a big while board with markers so folks can post positions they need and folks post positions they have.

This was Bill Erickson’s idea. They did something like this at the Phoenix WordCamp.

See you all tomorrow!

Prepping for WordCamp

We’re so close to WordCamp Austin 2012 on Saturday! We’re all excited and hope you are too.

In order to make sure you all get tagged and t-shirted and fed, a bunch of people are busy at work tonight! Name tags are being printed and sorted with food preferences and t-shirts and drink tickets.

Please be sure to appreciate all the volunteers without whom WordCamp wouldn’t happen!

WordCamp Austin After Party

We are pleased to announce that the WordCamp Austin 2012 After Party will be held at Maria’s Taco Xpress. Your WordCamp Austin name badge is your ticket onto Maria’s famous party patio. WordCamp attendees will be treated to a light buffet and drinks. Two drink tickets are tucked in your name badge holder. This year’s after party is graciously sponsored by Media Temple.

A Cautionary Tale for Would-be Walk-ins

There is no wait-list for WordCamp Austin 2012

Please don’t show up the day of the WordCamp hoping to get in without being registered because we will just hate to have to turn you away. We cannot take any walk-ins. All people who are registered will be wearing large badges throughout the conference.

The only way you may be able to get a ticket now, is to get one from someone who isn’t going to use theirs. You are welcomed to do this, but understand that Tee-shirts and meals have already been ordered and the orders can’t be changed, so you will get the Tee-shirt and meal choice that your ticket came with. We are directing folks with tickets they can’t use to post them on the WordCamp Austin 2012 FaceBook page. So check there first.

Since we do not actually issue paper tickets at the time of purchase, you will need to have the name and e-mail address and a transaction receipt of some sort, from the person that you got your ticket from.

If you bought a ticket you don’t need…

We do not offer refunds on ticket sales. If you have a ticket but can’t come,  let others know by using our Facebook page to hook up with someone looking for a ticket.

All of the WordCamp Austin 2012 sessions will be recorded and available on WordPress.tv.

Thanks for your support of WordCampAustin 2012!

WordCamp AustinTee-shirts!

Were you lucky enough to score a ticket for WordCamp Austin 2012?

If so, you’ll be glad to know that we’ll have our very own  souvenir tee-shirts at WordCamp.  The American love affair with tee-shirts has been going on since about 1913 (thanks, US Navy for comfort clothes!) and no WordCamp would be complete without a souvenir tee.

And no other town will have a design like ours.

Keep Austin WordPress!
